<br />
On Tuesday March 6th, 2012 Oku Damashi Martial Arts had the pleasure of having Sensei Chet Dixon and Sensei Jason Bassels out for an evening seminar filled with tons of information. Sensei Dixon went through a abundance of awesome things, like Aikido, Grand Master Wallace Platt's kata review, Kick defenses, Kake push hands, controls and defenses, and just a bunch of other cool stuff! Sensei Bassels took us through some stick(Arnis/Escrima) and knife drills that he learnt from the Philipines which was the ultimate! This seminar was phenominal and definately not one to be missed.......and on behalf of the CMAC~Oku Damashi Dojo I'd like to send a deep gratitude to both for such an outstanding, mind blowing seminar! It was amazing and we can't wait for the next one! Thank you so much for your time, dedication and support! Much respect to you both!Senseihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502529656598938767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2089444336810947391.post-4778647018333062372012-03-10T16:37:00.002-07:002012-03-10T18:07:48.253-07:00Karma Kids Update<div class="MsoNormal"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb8Jzki1k57lIgWT1RM065jPRdGf9s51zPyk_jQCtPnJDCho7wQBRGFSr6jI2xEP97VGtkSA7JxEFv32Y1_CfLDFy42TF_gU_3Se1_4eafRDQLtPnfw-327Ugid1Q5G_HJ0ClKdMUNfYE/s1600/dolp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb8Jzki1k57lIgWT1RM065jPRdGf9s51zPyk_jQCtPnJDCho7wQBRGFSr6jI2xEP97VGtkSA7JxEFv32Y1_CfLDFy42TF_gU_3Se1_4eafRDQLtPnfw-327Ugid1Q5G_HJ0ClKdMUNfYE/s1600/dolp.jpg" /></a></div><span style="font-family: "Cambria","serif"; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Our Karma Kids have been working extremely hard putting together a play titled "A Day In the Life Of the Ocean", they have had full creative imput to this and want to send out a message to all that if our ecosystem in the ocean is disrupted then we all will have to suffer the consequences. The play will be at the dojo on Earth Day......time will be announced shortly. Also we have asked special permission from Senpai Duft to use her book "I Live In The Ocean" to inform everyone about Dolphin captivity, the kids will be doing an adaption to her book with a narrative to bring insight and informative information to all. This is an exciting time for the dojo and the Karma Kids so please make sure to come out and support them. </div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The students of Oku Damashi Martial Arts who participated in the CMAC West Summer Seminar 2011 were lucky to have spent a weekend under the instruction of Sensei Dixon of CMAC Beaches in the breathtaking surroundings of Waterton Lakes. The three days were action packed, fun and extremely educational! Sensei Dixon led the group through new forms such as 8 Palms, Hard Chi Kung and Shattering Palm, as well as new Bo drills, Bo katas and three Tai Chi sets. We also worked the 18 Hands and learned new Bunkai applications. It is always an incredible opportunity to receive instruction by any CMAC Instructor as each person brings different knowledge and experience to the table. Training in a setting such as Waterton is very rare and creates a completely altered energy within the group than training in the Dojo. If you ever get the chance to train at a CMAC West Seminar you should take advantage of the opportunity! </div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"> The Oku Damashi Martial Arts Karma Kids wrapped up the Karma Kids Blanket Drive for the Calgary Humane Society. Over the past four months the Karma Kids have been collecting donations of blankets, towels and other linens from family, friends and of students of Oku Damashi Martial Arts. In total, the Karma Kids were able to fill six black garbage bags with all of their donations! Way to go Karma Kids!</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"> The Karma Kids have started a whole new project this month. From May 20 to the end of June the Karma Kids will be fundraising for the Harp Seals and for Slave Lake. So far the Karma Kids have raised money by selling their unwanted toys at the Langdon Parade of Garage Sales and by selling Seal Cookies at the CMAC West Black Belt Grading! They have also designed donation tins to place in their school classrooms to spread awareness and raise money. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far for your support. Check back at the end of June to see how money much the Oku Damashi Martial Arts Karma Kids were able to raise for these causes!</div>Senseihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13502529656598938767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2089444336810947391.post-12804480881944317902011-03-22T23:02:00.006-06:002011-04-04T15:56:48.951-06:00~ TIGER BALM INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT ~<div style="text-align: justify;"> Oku Damashi Martial Arts competed in the Tiger Balm International Tournament that just happened in Vancouver BC on March 18th and 19th, 2011.
